Travelling France

Question:

  In may of 2000 I stayed at the Picardy hotel in the middle of Paris. It was less than a block from the Gard de Nord, and the metro was right outside the hotel.  The three day stay cost me the equivalent of $60 american.  It was clean, friendly, and comfortable.  Bathrooms in every room and breakfast.

You want cheap? In May 1999 I had a single at Hotel Le Central, 6 rue Descartes, tel. 0146335793. 185F for small but clean room with shower & sink (toilet down hall). Nothing fancy but OK; I don’t happen to mind a somewhat saggy mattress. Great location, heart of Latin Quarter student area, few blocks from Place de la Contrescarpe & Mouffetard street market. M
