Question:
Patrick, you are certainly right that one should try to understand a foreign country by getting into contact with the locals. I make a point of trying to learn at least some phrases of the respective language, even if it is an "exotic" one like Indonesian or Russian. But does this mean I have to leave my camera at home? I’m trying to catch the atmosphere of a place, and I have put some of my pictures online to share them with others. Looking at pictures on the web is not a substitute for going to all those places yourself of course, but it could be a nice preparation for a trip of your own? Laurenz http://www.travelphoto.net/ PS: I’m hosting a forum on Yahoo dedicated to "International Understanding" – I think we could have some very interesting discussions there, if you’re interested: http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/internationalunderstanding – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> The pictures from Germany are nice but I would > like for you to know that there are some of us > who really get to see other countries from a > different perspective than just the usual per- > spective of a camera lens. > A real traveler gets to know the people of the > host country by getting to know the local people > and their culture inside and out. Darren, thanks for the hint, I have now repaired the link. I’ll work on the guest gallery this weekend, – I got a few new submissions lately. The pictures from Germany are nice but I would like for you to know that there are some of us who really get to see other countries from a different perspective than just the usual per- spective of a camera lens. A real traveler gets to know the people of the host country by getting to know the local people and their culture inside and out. It may sound crass or crude but I’d rather pick the brain of a fallen down drunk in a local dive than view all the beautiful photographs ever made. The self-made man who understands the locals is worth a zillion pictures of all descriptions!!! Think about it. Yours Truly, Patrick B. Lee

It’s not very constructive…But your pictures are really, really beautiful…I would like to see such travel pictures more often (and to be able to take such photographs). I’ve been unable to open your feedback form. > I have added pictures from France and Germany to my Website and would > be happy about any comments and constructive crticism. > (This concerns the pictures and the general page design…)
